I.

picture moses
munching on pita
and deep fried
         chickpea mush
as he leads liberation
         through split sea

II.

spring around the bend
         a perky tourist
                 tells yankee friends
at the corner of seventh
         and twenty-first street
upon seeing a café's
faded canopy
                           falafel comes from israel
                           my favorite of our foods

III.

                           they even take our foods
a palestinian american
         tells an audience
                  of mostly white
                           middle-aged artists
         at a community college
                  in santa fe
                           then nationalize it
                           sell it as culture
